SRJC students at conference |
At the end of October, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship held a conference that over 500 students attended. There were three different tracks, Disciples on campus (DOC), Ministers on campus (MOC) and Revealed on campus (ROC). SRJC had students in each track.
DOC focused on the question "what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus on a college campus?" 16 SRJC students participated in this track where they wrestled with Lordship and evaluated if Jesus was truly the Lord of every aspect of their lives. We also discussed the importance of being a witness as it is a part of our identity as followers of Jesus. I am overjoyed to share with you that 16 students accepted Christ in the DOC track this year from all different campuses including one student from the SRJC!! Praise God.
Since we've been back to campus students from all the tracks have made commitments to be good inviters. As a campus we wrote down a list of all the names of people we knew on campus that we would be committed to praying for and inviting to bible studies and large group, and a am filled with great joy to inform you that students have been faithful to this great invitation from Jesus. We have seen more new students and non-Christians attending bible studies in the last two weeks than we have seen all semester.
At our monthly large group, one of our student's spoke. The room we were in went from its normal plain look to a place filled with enthusiasm and great fellowship. Students were faithful invite and we saw the room fill up. With boldness and excitement our student, Kevin invited non-believers to stand if they wanted to accept Christ and we witnessed God's grace as three students stood to their feet!
Kevin said, "seeing the three stand up was incredible, it made me realize this is what I want to do for the rest of my life". One woman expressed that she had never really heard the whole story of Jesus.
Please pray for these students as they are now just beginning their lives as followers of Jesus. Thank you so much for your prayers and partnership.
